Gilly’s Restoring Timber Polish

Description

Restoring Polish is great for newly stripped or unfinished furniture. It brings out the natural grain of the wood, feeds it, and provides an initial sheen. It’s effective on leather too, with the Dark Restoring Polish recommended for use on black or brown leather. However, it is not recommended for constant use on French polished or similarly sealed surfaces, as it may be too “greasy”. This polish is predominantly used for Timber and leather.

Application

Ensure the surface is well sanded and smooth. It’s recommended to use a sanding sealer before waxing to reduce the amount of wax needed.

Dip a soft, lint-free cloth into the tin and scrape out a small amount. Rub into the surface with pressure in line with the grain. Buff back any excess with a soft, lint-free cloth or buffing pads. Use up to three coats, especially if the surface is very porous. Buff well between coats and allow up to an hour between coats to allow waxes to sink in.

Allow for minimum 30 minutes of drying time. Ensure the surface is touch dry with no fingerprinting before applying the next coat.

Depending on wear (as the surface becomes dull or dry), reapply the polish. These natural wax finishes do breathe, so using coasters and mats is recommended where applicable.

Clean Up with warm, soapy water for hands or cloth. For excess wax on timber, dampen a cloth with citrus solvent or mineral turpentine.
